George Sutton

105ft Steel Brig. Sailed from Newcastle for Cork with a cargo of coal but sank without trace in 1883.
A trawl is caught up on the bow suspended by buoys which is where the video starts.Large anchor can be seen laying across the wreck just back from the bow.
The stump of a mast is amidships and the steering gear is laying on its side at the stern.
Owned by Captain Dennis Whelan of Verdun Row, Wellington Rd Cork. Both sons onboard and the remainder of the 7 crew all lost.
A sailmaker, George Sutton, listed as living next door. Not sure of any relationship if any.
